“My paintings have a soft muted style with a subdued palette, conveying a sense of calmness. Scenes with a misty, moody atmosphere dominate my work. Landscapes are my passion and this show will consist of small work done where I live in Arlington and nearby surrounding areas, including Manchester.”

Small paintings have become Kathie Thompson’s forte in the past few years; her style has been described as realism tinged with impressionism, which she creates with oils because of their rich, luminous look. Most recently she has been studying under prominent still-life artist Elizabeth Torak, landscape artist Audrey Romano as well as other notable artists. She joined distinguished artists Christopher Pierce and Mallory Lake in June of 2009 for the House & Garden Show at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, which featured paintings with a garden theme. Thompson has been exhibiting at the Southern Vermont Arts Center for over ten years.
