In 1977, three years after his first foray into oil painting, Brian Sweetland met the prominent Vermont painter (and founding member and past president of SVAC), Dean Fausett. Sweetland relocated from Washington, DC, to Vermont, where he still lives and paints, to apprentice with Fausett. His first major exhibition came three years later and they haven’t stopped since. His approach to his art is succinct. “Paint the living, the dead and the inert,” he says. “Paint it all with love as you understand the term, and try to do it with distinction.” |
