Fun With Xtraord!nary Watercolor Techniques with Judi Betts
Sparkle is Judi’s trademark. This workshop will be full of fun and surprises as you explore a variety of xtraord!nary watercolor procedures and techniques. Variation and simplification in design, influence of color, variations in texture, and the use of abstract images are some of the essentials which will be explored. You will learn to see and understand Judi’s concept of “magical shapes”; as well as discover new ways to see and capture mood and emotion. The workshop’s focus is to assist the artist in creating their own expressive paintings. Have fun with your paintings-making them dance and burst with excitement. Judi Betts NWS, AWS has attained an international reputation for her transparent watercolor paintings. Her paintings have won over 100 awards in major competitions including The National Academy of Design, American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society and Watercolor USA. Paintings by Judi appear on national TV, wine labels, CDs, DVDs and in over 35 books. Judi has been selected to show in many national and international invitational exhibitions including the Taiwan Art Education Institute, Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center, and the 2009-2010 Exchange Exhibition between the Japan Watercolor Federation and Watercolor USA Honor Society. Judi has received the Louisiana Governor’s Award for Professional Artist, the state’s most prestigious award, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America awarded her their “Master of Watercolor” designation, and the Watercolor USA Honor Society has given Judi special recognition for her contributions to the medium of watercolor. Judi has authored books, juried shows, and is a signature member of the American and National Watercolor Societies.
