Going Wild! Discovering Modern Painting with Robert Carsten

No matter your medium or whether your manner of painting is realistic, representational, or expressionist, a painting is fundamentally built upon the arrangement of positive and negative space, color harmonies and contrast, value, and line. Enjoy exploring these fundamentals, and learn ways to abstractly express a range of responses from dynamic movement to meditative calm. We will be abstracting from images that you bring in sketches or photos of any subjects that interest you. Robert will present a background on the subject and demonstrate Modernist painting techniques. Exercises, critiques, and lots of painting time. All 2-dimensional mediums and levels welcome. Minimum 6/Maximum 18 students. Download a materials list HERE.
