Intro to High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR) with Tim HeffernanThis class has been canceled due to low registrations. HDR is hot in digital photography. This technique is a combination of bracketed shooting and blending the frames in software. Normally, you would expose your photo for the most important subject, but often that leaves very overexposed sky or underexposed shadows. This method allows you the ability to show all the details of those areas as well as the subject. With this technique, you can capture complex interiors in striking detail or use software to create other-worldly effects. In this workshop you will learn how to get started in this exciting new field. Required materials: tripod, digital camera with the ability to shoot in aperture priority or fully manual mode. Recommended is a camera with auto-bracketing. A laptop and download of Photomatix trial or full version or Photoshop CS 5 full or trial version recommended. Minimum 6/Maximum 15 students.

Tim Heffernan comes from a long line of "shutterbugs". Tim holds a B.A. from Simon's Rock College of Bard where he studied photography, music, and ecology. Tim is a full time graphics and web designer as well as an aspiring potter. He has worked with Doug Trumbull Entertainment Design Workshop and Hitachi and has specialized in digital arts since 1999. His photos have been exhibited and published in various magazines, websites, and books. He considers himself a "power geek". Tim currently teaches digital photography at IS183 School of Arts, Stockbridge, MA.  www.timheffernanphotography.com
