Berta Burr's collaboration with her husband, Walter Burr, a harpsichord maker noted for careful copies, has resulted in extensive knowledge of 17th and 18th century materials and techniques. She believes that craftsmanship informs creativity, citing the impact her long association with antique methodologies has had on her development as an artist. "As an artist, I strive to combine technical ability with creative vision", says Burr. "My ultimate goal as an artist is to produce a body of work that is both fresh and timeless to do obviously contemporary works that aspire to a continuation of a long painterly tradition."
