Ron Vallario
GALLERY VII with Tony Schwartz
“This exhibit is dedicated to the memory of my mother who gave me - a love of art, and a means to express myself. Thanks Jill.”
Ron Vallario was born in 1953 in Newark, New Jersey, the third child of Salvatore and Jill Vallario. His mother immigrated here with her parents from Italy in 1923. In the tradition of her family Jill was denied an education past the age of 16. As an adult, she put herself through night school and encouraged her children to embrace learning and fostered in them a love of the arts. She gave Ron his first camera when he was nine and photography became a life long love.
Vallario graduated from Rutgers University in 1975. He received a Masters degree in social work from the University of South Carolina and practiced social work for several years. In 1981, he decided to attend medical school and fulfill his dream of becoming a physician. He graduated from Rutgers Medical School and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina. After living and practicing in New Jersey for 15 years he moved with his family to Vermont where he continues to work full time as a family doctor.
Through all these changes one thing has remained constant, his love of photography. After moving to Vermont he has been able to devote more time to his photography and explore new horizons. He has recently received awards from Photographer’s Forum magazine and the Equine Photographers Network. He has exhibited work at the Nancy Price Gallery in Jamaica, VT, the Weston Gallery in Manasquan, NJ, and The Southern Vermont Arts Center at various times.
