ENTRANCE GALLERY
Mark Tougias did his first oil painting at age eight, entered his
first show at age 14 and had his first solo show at age 16. He has
continued to paint and exhibit ever since. Mark is a self-taught
artist who learned to paint by studying a variety of masters. "I
never stop learning. I learn from nature and by examining works
of new artists I’m excited about. Eventually, small elements
of their work may creep into my paintings, but only at the right
time… it may take years, owing to what I consider an ongoing
‘digestion’ process. It’s all about translation
of the visual world we see." Aside from painting his immediate
environs in Vermont and New York, his yearly travels abroad provide
fresh artistic stimulation. Mark has exhibited in scores of galleries
and group shows, including twenty-one solo exhibitions. |
