GALLERY II
Marguerite Takvorian-Holmes emigrated from her native France in
the early 1970s whereupon she undertook an eight-year course of
study at the Art Students League of New York. She studied the methods
of the Old Masters with the renowned classical realist, Frank Mason;
she was later introduced to, and learned from, the famed abstract
expressionist, Richard Poussette-Dart. She followed her painting
studies with two years of photography at the International Center
of Photography in New York. Depicting scenes from Washington County,
New York, France and Vermont, and using media Takvorian-Holmes prepares
following recipes handed down from the Old Masters, this exhibition
will feature field studies in oil on panel or paper, or mixed media,
and some larger work on canvas or linen done in her studio in East
Greenwich, New York. |
