Todd Reuben is a graduate of Columbia University, New York City, where he ultimately pursued studies in metal welding and sculpture under the tutelage of the renowned stainless steel sculptor, Professor Roy Gussow; he served as a teaching assistant in Columbia’s Art Department and apprenticed with Professor Gussow. After learning the skills and techniques of shaping, welding, and refining stainless steel, Reuben opened his own studio and developed his own unique forms and concepts. "The endeavor to create," says Reuben, "is the most rewarding pursuit. Sculpting is a very challenging art form… to make a piece work aesthetically from every angle is a significant part of the challenge. I have chosen freeform over representative or figurative sculpture because the excitement, for me, is heightened by discovering and articulating a brand new form… to bring a thing into the world that has never been seen or experienced before."
