GALLERY VII
Clare Adams has been painting the Vermont landscape for more than 20 years. She is drawn to familiar views that are filled with personal meaning. These intimate portraits are meditations on nature and place. They reflect her reverence and wonder of the natural world around her. Adams has a BFA from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she studied closely with the late Japanese painter, Kaji Aso; she was also influenced by a childhood neighbor, the painter and Master Printer, Gabor Peterdi. She has recently taken up printmaking and is particularly attracted to monoprinting, a technique that allows her to build up many layers of color and form. She is hoping to incorporate the variations and spontaneous qualities of monoprint technique in her oil painting.
