GALLERY IX
Born in Siberia in 1937, the largely self-taught Ukrainian artist, Helen Young, did not start painting in earnest until the late 1980s. She prefers to work in small scale, painting en plein air, on wooden panels or on gessoed paper. When not painting landscapes on location, Young gravitates toward close studies of flowers and other still lifes. She has shown regularly here at the Southern Vermont Arts Center and has exhibited in many regional group shows.
