GALLERY IV
Sharyn Finnegan’s images come from the coasts of England,
Iceland, Newfoundland, Denmark and around her New York and Vermont
homes. Her detailed paintings center on focused observation of the
landscape in sunshine, while her charcoal drawings deal quickly
and loosely with ephemeral subjects such as fog. The latter reflects
her interest in Chinese literati painting, as does the most recurring
subject of mountains and water. Currently on the faculty of Parsons
The New School of Design in New York City, Finnegan also participates
in many artist-in-residency programs including the MacDowell Colony,
New Hampshire, and, in 2007, the SIM Residency in Reykjavik, Iceland.
This is her 11th solo exhibit; she has previously shown at Manhattan’s
Prince St. Gallery and the Blue Mountain Gallery, where she is currently
represented, and at the Museum of Fine Arts in Roswell, New Mexico. |
