GALLERY VI
“Always, I desire to make objects that resonate with their own truth, that stand on their own as presences, as meaningful signifiers of the wonder we have always known, yet forgotten or not seen in our haste and distraction.”
The tension between the familiar and the mysterious is an important dynamic embodied in every one of Carolyn Webb’s pieces. Born in Rochester, New York, Carolyn Webb’s studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts included a Post-Graduate Fellowship in sculpture. She holds an M.F.A. in sculpture from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her sculpture and prints have been exhibited in-group and solo exhibitions including Gallery Hasta, Hyderabad, India, Reeves Contemporary Gallery, NY, and the Copley Society, Boston, among others. She is the recipient of many awards including an A.R.T. Grant from the Berkshire Taconic Foundation and a Ford Foundation Grant from the University of Massachusetts Sculpture Faculty. Her work is held in the collections of the University Gallery, Amherst, the Fellowship Collection of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, as well as many private collections across the country.
