Mallory Lake has been collecting awards and receiving glowing reviews of her equally glowing pastels since 1988. A pastel painter with an unerring sense of chiaroscuro– the visual representation of light and shadow – Lake’s subjects have, of late, been the signature landscapes and architecture of Italy’s Tuscany region. A frequent exhibitor here at the Arts Center, Lake’s work is found in our permanent collection as well as, among others, the collections of the Boston Public Library, the Rose Museum at Brandeis University, the Currier Gallery of Art and the New Haven Paint and Clay Club.
