There will be a free panel discussion, led by Gerald Auten, guest curator and juror. This is prior to the opening party in Gallery II, Yester House.

Please attach 1 complete label-set to the top left hand corner of the back side of each work submitted (Each label set will contain duplicate information. Do Not Detach completed label set.) Duplicated information will aid in cataloguing the exhibition. Be sure information on each label set is attached to the appropriate art piece and that the information on the label set agrees with the information on the entry blank. Works with incomplete or conflicting labeling information will be rejected.

ELIGIBILITY:
Open to all U.S. and Canadian artists.

ENTRY FEE:
A non-refundable fee of $20 per entry will be charged for each non-member (i.e. $40 for 2 entries by each non-member artist) to assist with Exhibition and publication costs. Please make checks payable to: The Southern Vermont Arts Center, and include with entry.

PROCEDURE:
Each artist may submit two entries of recent work (2009-2010). These entries may be submitted either by CD or two actual pieces, to be available for sale.

MEDIA AND SIZE:
All media, the exception being installation pieces and video; gallery space is prohibitive of such endeavors. Oil Paintings must be framed, ready for hanging with eye screws and wire. Watercolors, Graphic Art, Pastels & Photography must be matted, framed with glass or plexi-glass, ready for hanging with eye screws and wire. Sizes not to exceed 36 x 40 inches. Sculptures must not exceed 50 lbs and the longest dimension cannot exceed 48 inches.

Sculptors must be physically able to carry their own pieces; the Arts Center does not have personnel to assist with delivery and pickup. Works not properly framed, ready for hanging, or over the size limit will not be accepted.

CD SUBMISSION:
CDs accompanying the entry form must be identified properly (artist’s name, title, date, medium, price, size, or numbered/named to correspond with information submitted on the entry form, including prices. Indicate whether work, if accepted, would be shipped or hand-delivered to the Arts Center.

Enclose a current resume. CDs cannot be returned to you.

CD DEADLINE:
CDs, entry form, check-list, and entry fee must be received no later than August 3, 2010. CD Jury will take place on August 7th. Notification of acceptance will be given by August 20, 2010. CD materials must be sent directly to: Gerald Auten HB 6081 Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH. 03755. (marked on envelope: National Fall Show).

DELIVERY AND/OR SHIPPING WORKS ACCEPTED BY CD JURY:
Once accepted by cd jury, work can be shipped directly to SVAC. All shipped work must include a $10 handling fee, along with accurate payment for return shipping. Artists may also hand deliver their accepted artwork: September 18, 21 or 22, between the hours of 11am and 4 pm. All works must have completed entry information and identification labels-sets upon arrival. If a piece is purchased, the cost of return shipping will be refunded to the Artist.

DELIVERY OF WORKS FOR ACTUAL PRESENTATION TO JUROR:
Artists wishing to submit actual work for consideration in person, rather than CD submission, may hand deliver their work September 18, 21 or 22 between the hours of 11 am and 4 pm for presentation to the Juror on September 23, 2010. Information about accepted and rejected work will be made available September 30, 2010.*

Notice of Acceptance: A list of accepted works will be posted on the SVAC website: www.svac.org on September 30. It is the responsibility of the artists to visit the web site or phone the Arts Center on September 30 to find out if their works have been accepted. SVAC will not call artists regarding acceptance.

*Works left in SVAC’s care following the listed dates will incur a $5.00 a week surcharge, and become the property of SVAC after a 6 month period with no extra notice to the artist.

AWARDS:
Three Juror’s Choice artists will receive a $300 cash award for distinction with regard to the principles of aesthetics and design. Awards will be announced during the panel discussion on Friday, October 1.

GUEST JUROR AND CURATOR: GERALD AUTEN
Gerald Auten is Senior Lecturer in Studio Art at Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH. He teaches drawing, architecture and senior seminar, and is Director of The Studio Art Exhibition Program

Educated at the University of Iowa (BFA in Drawing and Painting), Washington University-St Louis (MFA in Painting) and the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (with an MA. Arch), Auten’s work has been exhibited widely in the US and abroad. Recent exhibitions include those at The Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH; The American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York; The National Academy Museum, New York; The Park Avenue Armory Work on Paper Exhibition, and Lori Bookstein Fine Art, New York. Auten is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Ralph Fabri Prize from the National Academy, a Purchase Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and an Andrew Mellon Foundation Grant. Collections include the Albright Knox Gallery of Art, Booz Allen Hamilton, the Currier Museum of Art and the Hood Museum of Art.

REMOVAL OF WORK:
Removal dates for works not selected for exhibition are October 2 AND 5 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and October 3 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Dates for work selected: November 14 from 1 – 4 p.m. and November 16 and 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

SALES:
Artwork submitted must be for sale. A commission of 40% of the retail amount received will be taken by the SVAC. SVAC reserves the right to sell in three in-stallments. Works sold must stay in the show until November 14, 2010. Payment to the artists for pieces sold will be made as soon as SVAC is paid in full by the purchaser, after the show ends.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION:
All artists are requested to submit up-to-date resumes and biographical information when entering art work in SVAC exhibitions, in order to assure that this material is available to prospective buyers.

LIABILITY:
Every reasonable care will be exercised in the handling and storage of works submitted to the exhibit, but neither the Southern Vermont Arts Center nor its agents, will be responsible for loss or damage no matter how it may occur, and accepts no liability whatsoever in any form, resulting from the entry, acceptance or rejection of exhibits or from any other matter connected with the exhibit.

Artists may insure their own works if they wish. The sending of art works to this exhibit shall be understood to imply the sender's agreement sender with the conditions set above. Your signature on the entry blank confirms your compliance with these conditions.

19th Annual Winter Members' Exhibition
January 8 – February 8, 2011

Open to all Artist Members. Two works may be submitted for the jury’s consideration. All work must be hand delivered.


81st Annual Members' Exhibition and Celebration
May 8 – June 15, 2010

Artist Members with a residence in Vermont or within a thirty mile radius of the Arts Center may submit up to two pieces for this juried exhibition. At least one work is guaranteed to be selected for this exhibit. All works must be hand delivered. SVAC does not accept any work for this show that is shipped.

The Collectors’ Gallery
June 19 – September 18, 2010

This is a gallery space reserved to showcase work by Artist Members on a regularly rotating basis throughout the summer season. Limited to two works per artist, open to all Artist Members but needs to be juried in. All work must be hand delivered. (For the first time, we are jurying work by CD and slide only).

Solo Exhibitions
July 31 deadline

Call for Artists for New Solo Show and Outdoor Sculpture Season at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, June 2011 - March 2012. July 31, 2010 deadline. Open to all artists, members and non-members, who work in painting in any medium, mixed medium, photography and indoor or outdoor sculpture. Solo show applications are for the next year’s summer and winter exhibition seasons, 2011-2012. See fees listed below.

Solo Exhibition Application Guidelines
Applicants for Individual Shows must submit a resume, six slides or CD indicative of material intended for exhibition, retail price list, a $10 handling fee, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for slide return. Address applications to the Visual Arts Committee. Notification is made in November. Chosen exhibitors incur a charge of $200 to defray expenditure on printed materials and invitations, online gallery website, placement in the Arts Center’s publication and publicity. Artists showing in the Sculpture Garden incur a $100 charge.


SVAC Policy
This year the Arts Center will receive a 40% commission on all works sold.
Although every effort will be made to return slides, the Arts Center assumes no responsibility for them and requests that only duplicates be submitted for consideration. All artists are requested to pick up their work on the dates set for each show, including Collector’s Gallery exhibits.
