GALLERY VI

Using wood stripped bare of its bark and washed smooth by the Connecticut River, Phyllis Rosser constructs dynamic forms that invite contemplation. The wood, honed to its essence, is assembled to create a subtle play of color in shades of rust, hazel, silver and charcoal to make evident the ravages of time. Rosser has exhibited widely in the New York area and is included in the corporate collections of Microsoft and Johnson & Johnson. New York Times critic Barry Schwabsky likened Rosser’s work to “the muscular brush strokes of Abstract Expressionist painters like Joan Mitchell and Willem de Kooning.”
