Outreach
The Arts Center's Educational Outreach Program was established in 1995, and facilitates a host of interdisciplinary arts initiatives, both on campus and off, involving area schools, and made possible by the generosity of a number of special endowment funds and donors. The program has become the public face of the Arts Center's core mission, "to make both the visual and performing arts an integral part of the life of our community..."
In 2010, the Outreach program proudly funded Artist Residencies in eight area schools through grants, via the support of the Jonathan Levin Educational Endowment Fund. Four college scholarships were awarded to promising student artists: the 25th annual Harriet Miller Scholarship and 19th Thomas Reilly Dibble Scholarship, both available to Burr and Burton students; the 17th annual Churchill Ettinger Scholarship; and the 10th annual H. Thomas Clarke Scholarship.
SVAC has formed collaborations with local & state organizations to bring arts opportunities to the community, such as Mark Skinner Library, the Vermont Art Teachers Association, Opera Theater of Weston, The Singing Sensations, Fresh Air Fund, and Empty Bowls.
