Our Policies

Early registration allows us to plan appropriately and avoid last minute cancellations. Because of our obligation to instructors, a 50% non-refundable deposit for each class is required at registration. The balance is due three weeks prior to the first day of class. A full refund will be made only when the class is canceled by the Arts Center. For students taking four to eight lessons who might miss a class, a make-up session might be arranged with the instructor whose decision is final.

The Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class in which the minimum enrolment is not met. Class size is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A reserved class space is guaranteed once we have received payment.

SVAC does not confirm registration. The Arts Center makes calls to students only in the event of class postponement or cancellation. Assume a class or workshop is running unless otherwise notified 2-3 days prior to start date.

Refunds/Cancellations: For payment offline full payment is due three weeks prior to the class. There is no partial refund to students who cancel their registration 12 days or less prior to the start of the class. If you are unable to attend, you may contact the office for a letter enabling you to claim your tuition as a tax-deductible donation. All withdrawals and changes must be done in writing.

General Information: During their enrolment, students get free admission to the museum and galleries at SVAC. SVAC will occasionally document classes and students’ work for promotional purposes only. If you DO NOT want yourself or your child photographed, please notify SVAC in writing prior to class start date. Gift Certificates are available for classes. These are not redeemable for cash.

Liability: All students accept full responsibility for personal injury and/or personal losses during the period of the class. The Southern Vermont Arts Center assumes no liability for non-refundable airline tickets that cannot be used due to any classes or workshops being cancelled, schedule changes, or any misprints in this catalog.

Materials List and Fees: Some classes and workshops require students to bring their own materials. Students will receive a materials list at the time of registration. Students may request a materials list in advance, however, SVAC reserves the right to cancel any class with below minimum enrolment. When materials are supplied, the price will vary by course.

Studios: Studios are located in the Madeira Education Center located immediately at the end of the parking lot. Unless otherwise noted, please proceed directly to the Education Center on your first day of class.

Lodging and Dining: Please be aware that Manchester is a resort destination where lodging properties fill up very quickly. We suggest that you book your room at your earliest convenience. Click to visit a list of our Lodging Friends! Students are welcome to bring bag lunches and/or snacks to class. Picnic tables are arranged around the studio grounds for your convenience. In addition, a delightful lunch is available at SVAC’s Garden Café in Yester House (reservations required); off-campus, students are invited to take advantage of a 10% food discount for all meals – lunch, dinner and late-night bites are offered–for the duration of their registration, at Mulligans on Route 7A (Main Street), in Manchester.

Membership: If you are taking more than one class or have more than one child enrolled in a workshop, we urge you to become a member of SVAC to take advantage of the many benefits and savings that membership offers.
