Guided Open Studio: A Two-Day Workshop With Cynthia Rosen
Instructor: Cynthia Rosen
November 8 & 9, 10am-4pm
Tuition: $275 member / $340 non-member
Ages 16+

Guided Open Studio is an opportunity for the meeting of minds in image making. This workshop welcomes participants of all levels working in any 2D medium and in any style–representational or abstract. Each person can work at their own pace; individualized instruction will be geared toward helping participants use their own particular talents, interests and abilities to produce quality images.

Cynthia will offer a few points of introduction to provide context and ideas for image-making. She will touch on a sampling of art through the ages and the vast array of approaches one can use in creating images and will offer basic information about drawing technique, composition, and linear and atmospheric perspective. She will also provide an optional color exercise to demonstrate mixing, uses, and application of color.

Additional mini-demonstrations will be scattered throughout the workshop as deemed relevant. These may include incorporating figures into a landscape; creating a sense of depth in a landscape through the use of color; considering tools for abstracting an image; etc.

Those who are ready to work on their own may move at any time to interpretation of still lives Cynthia has set up, or to create works based upon whatever photos or references they choose to bring with them.

The ultimate goal of the workshop is for participants to have support and guidance available as they pursue their own creative works of art.

Saturday: Those who want, go out for dinner at an inexpensive restaurant.

Looking forward to working together.
