2019 Gallery and Sales Associate
The Southern Vermont Arts Center is now looking for a Gallery and Sales Associate for the 2019 season. The Gallery and Sales Associate at SVAC has a multitude of responsibilities. The Associate operates as a front desk receptionist, a sales representative and an assistant to the Gallery Director for Install/De-install of exhibitions. The Gallery and Sales Associate must have a background or interest in Art or Art History and excel at customer relations. The selected Associate will represent SVAC, whose mission is to promote and nurture the arts. We are looking for part-time employees to work at least 15-20 hrs/week from April 2019 – October 2019 with possible extension into 2020 (some additional evening hours will be required). Training and orientation will be provided by SVAC.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Opening and closing buildings/galleries
  • Greeting and sign-in
  • Phone and email inquiry response
  • Logging guest attendance
  • Knowledgeable about exhibitions, artists, events and membership opportunities
  • Assist with installations and de-installations of exhibits
  • Some after hours assistance required for events
  • Light Administrative tasks

Requirements:

  • Highschool Diploma (Bachelor’s prefered)
  • Education focus/interest on Art/Art History/Design
  • Sales experience
  • Customer Service experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Art handling
  • Gallery/Museum experience
