Learn the techniques of drawing with pencil. pen, charcoal, and ink–while drawing film stills from classic black and white Hollywood movies. We will begin with pencil, and each week we will add to the technical repertoire. Draw a different genre each week–film noir, horror, Westerns and mysteries. For all levels. Course meets over Zoom, four times for 90 minutes each time.

This is the companion course to Hollywood in Black and White.” The two courses are coordinated but taking both is optional. Learn techniques of drawing with pencil, charcoal and ink while drawing film stills from classic movies of different genres. Open to all skill levels. The class is online, conducted as a studio course with live instruction. Approximately 16 film stills will be provided for each movie; students can choose depending on their skills and interests. Susan will send students images via Google Docs prior to each Zoom meeting.

A list of suggested materials is available. Please contact SVAC if you have questions about supplies or any other aspect of the course. The course is open to teens with parent/guardian permission.
