Join one of SVAC’s star instructors for an intimate preview of For the Love of Vermont: The Lyman Orton Collection—and create new work inspired by it.

On June 7, SVAC’s transformative new addition opens to the public, unveiling For the Love of Vermont. In the two days leading up to that opening, access is limited to the press, VIP tours and this workshop.

Participants enjoy early access to the extraordinary Collection, the chance to experience it with a professional artist, and guidance in making new work informed by the Collection’s treasures. Each morning, Cynthia will introduce a selection of images from the Collection to serve as that day’s focus. She will draw on her extensive experience as both artist and instructor, leading the group in close examination of structure, color, composition, and the subtle elements that make each painting compelling.

From there, participants will create their own artwork in response to the images. These new works may take any form: personal reflections, loose interpretations, or close studies of the originals. Cynthia will offer creative and technical guidance tailored to each artist’s goals, whether you wish to paint a near-accurate representation, move boldly into abstraction, or explore something in between.

Supplies:
Participants are invited to bring their own supplies or make use of the drawing and paint materials provided.
