Virtual Class: The Four Gentlemen (Introduction to Ink Painting) with Chalice Mitchell
Instructor: Chalice Mitchell
Dates: Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2020
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Cost: SVAC Member: $105; Non-Member: $115
Ages 14+

Learn the basics of traditional ink painting from artist Chalice Mitchell. With undergraduate and graduate degrees in fine arts, Chalice has shown her work internationally in a variety of media. In this course, she distills all that experience to create a step-by-step beginners’ progression that makes ink accessible. She will focus on preparing the materials, mixing the ink, laying out the composition, and the basic brush strokes. Chalice will teach these techniques through the four symbolic plant forms–bamboo, orchid, chrysanthemum and plum. Students will leave the weekend workshop with a solid foundation to begin an ink painting journey. Meet over Zoom four times in total:
Saturday, November 7 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 – 4 p.m.
Sunday, November 8 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 – 4 p.m.
