Susan Abbott:
A Long Lineage of Color
Contemporary artists use color ideas that go back to the earliest paintings. In her talk, Abbott explores the historical sources of her use of color, how she invents color compositions, and the emotional impact of color theory.
Samantha Mercadante Eckert:
Presence Through Absence and Practice
The narrative of the installation, Shrouded in Clouds and Letters is expressed using specific materials that connect to memories of objects made by the artist’s Italian grandparents and brings to light her reflections of an Americanized fragmented identity. Eckert will discuss how her heritage informs new ideas and drives her practice.
Note: this program will be recorded and made available on SVAC’s website.
