Contemporary American Regionalism: Vermont Perspectives Opening Reception
Join the Southern Vermont Arts Center for the opening reception for Contemporary American Regionalism: Vermont Perspectives.

WHEN: Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 4-6 p.m.
WHERE: Wilson Museum at the Southern Vermont Arts Center
Guest Curator: Ric Kasini Kadour

Monoprints of yarn balls, lush fantastical landscapes, and deep, colorful abstracts: These are just some of the art viewers will encounter in this exhibition. But far from being a simple exhibition of Vermont art or Vermont artists, curator Ric Kasini Kadour invites the viewer to consider art from a regionalist perspective and how doing so impacts the viewer’s experience of art. Using the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s permanent collection as a point of departure, this exhibition will be an opportunity to consider contemporary American regionalism and the role art plays in society. A series of talks and a printed catalog will further elaborate on these themes.
