Embroidering Moss

This beginner embroidery workshop teaches students how to craft their own moss-inspired textiles. The class will cover beginner embroidery methods as well as techniques used to create faux moss textures and patterns. Students will also have the chance to observe live moss samples and learn about Vermont mosses to inform their embroideries. No previous embroidery experience required.


Sloan Atwood Pirie is an artist living and working between Brooklyn, NY and Winhall, VT. Her work explores the intersection of art and science, using an array of materials and methods. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in sculpture from Pratt Institute.
