Photographing Fall at Merck Forest
Instructor: Thom Williams
Saturday, October 14, 2023 (rescheduled from October 7 because of rain)
10 a.m.–4 p.m.
SVAC Member: $105; Non-member: $130
Ages 16+

Celebrate the colors and creatures of fall at Merck Forest & Farmland Center. This will be a beautiful day of walking, talking and discovery, as you explore techniques for making interesting and dramatic images. Visit wooded streams, vistas, pastures and barns–including animal enclosures not usually open to the public. If you’ve ever wanted to climb into the pig pen to make portraits, this is your chance! (But the pig pen is optional.)

Teaching artist Thom Williams welcomes photographers at any level. Advanced photographers can ask any question about the fine points of camera function; those newer to the artform will learn the basics of strong composition. Chat with Merck staff about the natural history of their spectacular site and their thoughtful land and livestock management; meet friendly fellow photographers and exchange ideas.

Open to anyone with a camera or cell phone.
