Winter Camp: Cartooning

Ages 6–9

Learn how to draw simple and dynamic characters and worlds, as found in your favorite graphic novels and cartoons! We’ll develop our own characters and learn what makes a successful and memorable design. Campers will also learn how to turn what they see into fun drawings, as well as learning how to draw zany sound effects, hilarious expressions, and more!

Mela Rogers is a comic artist and illustrator. Originally from Southern New Hampshire, they moved to Savannah, GA to study comics at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and graduated with a BFA in Sequential Art. Mela uses their art as an expression of optimism, and loves to work with kids and help them learn about art as a way to express themselves and have fun! She is currently working on her debut YA graphic novel with Holt-Macmillan. When she’s not drawing, you can find her reading, playing piano or bass guitar, or playing with her cat Enoch.
